Writing Apprehension Across the Curriculum
The Daly-Miller Writing Apprehension Test is an empirically developed instrument used to measure both the level and type(s) of anxiety around writing. In this interactive, writing across the curriculum (WAC) workshop, we will discuss how writing apprehension affects novice writers’ behaviors, attitudes, and written products along with strategies for combating writing apprehension.
We will reflect on ourselves as writers, consider how instructors can anticipate particular writing needs, devise strategies for reducing stress that can inhibit the development of cognitive skills, and consider how such strategies can be integrated in writing classrooms across the disciplines.
