Supporting Student Learning with Metacognitive Writing

Metacognition, or thinking about thinking, is a crucial element in becoming an intentional, thoughtful, and self-directed learner and a more effective writer. Join us for an interactive workshop in which we introduce participants to research about and fundamental practices for fostering metacognition.

Participants will leave with knowledge of the important role metacognitive writing can play in improving student writing, flexible approaches and strategies for integrating reflective writing, and specific examples of assignments and activities that can be used to improve both teaching and learning.
